Plastic Surgeon Website Makeover Project

Our latest plastic surgery website project wasn’t a full re-design, but a simple makeover designed to improve the user (patient) experience and improve conversion rates for Illuminate Plastic Surgery in Palo Alto, CA.

Dr. Boudreault, the owner and founder of Illuminate Plastic Surgery, has been in practice for about a year, so his website was not in need of an overhaul. Instead, we kept the integrity of the layout and focused on cleaning up a few key elements. Additionally, the website was already on WordPress, making the job much more streamlined. Our focus was on:

  1. Improving the side navigation so that patients could lick to a specific procedure from the menu
  2. Adjust the inner page template so the content wasn’t as squished
  3. Modify the mobile layout to make it easier to click to call or email
  4. Improve the website’s optimization

As you can see, the website has a unique side navigation, as opposed to the more traditional horizontal menu. This is perfectly fine except that, just like a horizontal nav, we recommend you try to organize this well and minimize clicks needed to get to each procedure page. That’s why we added the sub-menu layout you see below.


You can also see by the before and after screenshots below that we re-worked the mobile site. On smartphones you’ll now see a “sticky” footer with icons that allow you to tap to call, email, view reviews, view and directions. These are permanently situated ion the footer and will show no matter where you are on a given page. You’ll also notice the email button has an easy-to-fill-out pop up form.

The client also had no ability to access their Google Analytics, so we created a new account with full conversion tracking, not just for web forms, but for tracking tap to call and tap to email actions. We integrated the Analytics account with Webmaster Tools as well. Lastly, while the client is still working on building new cases, we’ve implemented the new Turbo photo gallery software, which should go live in the next few months.
