Year-Round Marketing Ideas for Every Practice

medical marketing calendarOne easy way to streamline your marketing efforts is to utilize a marketing calendar. This will allow you to plan ahead so you stay on track with your blog posts, social media messaging, videos, emails, and other efforts.

When putting your marketing calendar together it’s always a good idea to develop a theme for each month. This keeps each of your efforts in sync and gives them a central focus. You can also implement specials or promotions based off of these themes.

In this article I’ll dive into some ideas for themes you can use to create your monthly marketing campaigns. Some of them are pretty obvious, some are humorous, and others are little-known remembrances. I’ve conveniently broken them down by month:

  • January: New Years (resolutions), National Blood Donor Month
  • February: Valentine’s Day, American Heart Month, Super Bowl
  • March: March Madness, St. Patrick’s Day, National Nutrition Month
  • April: Spring/Spring Break, National Stress Awareness Month, International Guitar Month
  • May: Mother’s Day, May Flowers, National Blood Pressure Month, National Recommitment Month
  • June: Father’s Day, Gay Pride Month, Start of Summer
  • July: 4th of July, Dog Days of Summer (baseball or weather), National Blueberry Month
  • August: National Eye Exam Month, Admit You’re Happy Month
  • September: Start of Fall, Self Improvement Month, Hispanic Heritage Month
  • October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month, National Diabetes Month
  • November: Thanksgiving, Veterans Day, Native American Heritage Month, Adoption Awareness Month
  • December: Holidays, World AIDS Awareness Day (Dec 1)

These are just a few ideas that you can work into any of your marketing messages throughout the year. Remember to be creative. If you enjoy baseball, don’t be shy about taking a photo (or “selfie”) of you at a ballpark. If you’re a pet lover, show photos of you and your animal hanging out.

Marketing isn’t about selling, it’s about developing a relationship with people so that they know, like and trust you. That’s why incorporating the personalities of the doctor and his or her staff into the practice’s messaging is important. People want to know more about who’s behind the brand than the brand itself.
